I had to put a question mark because I do not have the answer to this question. More specifically I am posing the question:
Can there exist a website music player that can span over multiple pages without reloading? Here is the catch, it can not be part of a flash developed website, it can not be a standalone player, and it can not be contained within inline frames. See, I knew I’d get ya.
With Web 2.0 being the next generation of web development, something like this should be a possibility. This should apply to streaming video as well. I know that most people are annoyed by website music players but clients want them. But they all get upset when the music reloads every time a link is clicked, and no one seems to like the idea of a standalone player and javascript pop up windows are blocked by EVERY browser so scratch that.
The SEO aspect comes in because if you analyze the current solution to this problem (which unless I am mistaken is a site that is completely developed in flash) it is an SEO nightmare! Everyone knows that flash based websites can not be optimized easily if at all. So what’s the missing link here? How can this become a reality, more importantly a standards compliant one? Can a web page contain an entity that remains constant throughout the entire website? Will this require the development of an entirely new coding language? I think the answer has to be much simpler than that.
I welcome any and all comments on this topic. If a product like this already exists, please inform me otherwise let’s get the ball rolling!
